Heritage Classic - The Classy (Part - 2)

Hello, hope you enjoyed my last blog, if not it's my request that please read it so that you will get a complete idea about my Heritage Classic. Till now we discussed 1st phase of development, today we will be talking about 2nd phase of development. Since the motorcycle was converted into a bobber, still something was missing from it to make it different from others.

With RE off-roader Exhaust

With RE company fitted seat

In the 2nd phase, we decided to change the exhaust of the bike. We were having a very iconic Royal Enfield off-roader exhaust by that time, but we decided to change it. We searched a lot to get genuine bobber style exhaust or at least exhaust from some reputed brand, but it was hard to get one, and finally, we bought Globe Auto Parts Bobber Exhaust. It is a short lengthen with a side-opening mouth exhaust, its appearance makes it special and most suitable for our Heritage Classic. So, we replaced the original RE off-roader exhaust with a short-length globe bobber style exhaust. At first, we felt quite uncomfortable with the sound it was producing, as it was louder than what we used to hear earlier. But with time we get habitual with this one also. The overall fit and finish of the exhaust are good.

Bobber style Exhaust

Even after changing the exhaust, we were feeling that something more is needed to be done here. At this point, we thought that either we should replace the fuel tank and handlebar with some rectangular-shaped raised fuel tank and raised hand bars, or we should replace the seat by scooping it and removing the seat springs to make seat height low which will eventually make the appearance of the bike like a bobber that is, the height of handlebars will appear as raised. We decided to go with the change in the seat. We did an extensive analysis of company-fitted seats. We concluded that it is not possible to scope that seat as its baseline (Which is usually made of plastic and metal) is flat, and for making the seat scooped we need to completely change the seat. So we again researched a lot about seats, engaged with many local seat makers but we were not getting what we needed. One day we were in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. My father spotted a seat shop and their tailor master was fitting seats in one of the classic, it was somewhat similar to what we needed. We spoke to him, gave him a detailed explanation of what we need. He said OK seat will be made but there was another problem, we were not having our classy there but somehow we decided to take a risk and ordered a seat from there.

Customized Dark tan scooped Seat

The dark tan colored custom seat was made another task was to get it fitted, as we were having a different kind of setup for backlight and some other electric circuits under the seat which was fitted earlier, but to get our new seat fitted we have to again redesign the fitting of backlight and that circuits. But by now we were having enough knowledge of where to fit these things and this time we fairly did it without that much of a problem. Now we had a new hand-made stitched seat for our classy. The new seat is also very comfortable and seating on it makes handling more easier. Overall ergonomics of the bike feel improved with an update in the seat.
