THE
SIERRA
IS
ELECTRIC.
It conquered the world's tallest sand dune. Now it wants to conquer your garage.
Everything you need to know before booking India's most hyped EV of 2026.
The Numbers That Matter
The original Tata Sierra debuted in 1991 — India's first lifestyle SUV with its iconic rear quarter glass. Thirty-five years later, Tata has revived the nameplate with a 75 kWh battery, AWD drivetrain, 665 km of claimed range, and enough technology to make it the most feature-loaded EV under ₹26 lakh in India today.
Let's set the scene. It's June 30, 2026. Tata Motors launches the Sierra EV at ₹18.79 lakh — and in one move, positions itself against the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, and Maruti e Vitara. Deliveries begin July 15. If you're reading this, you're probably deciding whether to book one right now.
Here's the honest, complete picture — specs, features, variants, what we love, what we don't, who should buy it, and who should wait.
The Sierra EV is unmistakably a Sierra. The tall, boxy silhouette, the nearly flat roofline, and that signature Alpine rear quarter window that made the original iconic — all preserved. Tata has kept these DNA markers while grafting a thoroughly modern face: a slim full-width LED light bar, blanked-off grille, flush door handles, 19-inch dual-tone alloys, and thick black arch cladding.
Dimensions: 4,340mm long, 1,841mm wide, 1,715mm tall with a 2,730mm wheelbase and 205mm of ground clearance. Seven colours including two EV exclusives — Rishikesh Rapids and Nainital Nocturne (AWD only).
Three Powertrains. One Right Answer.
Two battery sizes and three drivetrain options. Here's how they stack up.

Feature-Loaded Doesn't Cut It
The Sierra EV packs technology most cars at double its price still don't offer.
How It Stacks Up
The Sierra EV enters a crowded segment. Here's the honest range and value comparison.
The Sierra EV's biggest advantage over the Creta Electric is range — 665 km vs 473 km is a 40% gap that matters enormously for highway buyers. Against the Mahindra BE 6, the Sierra trades sportiness for legacy design and more cabin space. Against the Maruti e Vitara, it wins on nearly every technology metric.
- 665 km range — real highway confidence without anxiety
- 205mm ground clearance handles India's rough roads well
- Triple screen + JBL audio feels genuinely premium
- Summon Mode and V2L are features you didn't know you needed
- AWD with 5.8s sprint for ₹26 lakh is incredible value
- Iconic retro Sierra design that turns heads everywhere
- Lifetime battery warranty removes the #1 EV concern
- Touch climate controls — fiddly while driving
- Home charger (₹49,000) should have been included standard
- Tata service network still trails Maruti and Hyundai
- Tall body generates wind noise above 100 km/h
- Base Pure variant feels underdone for ₹18.79 lakh
- Real-world range will be 15–20% below MIDC figures
Should You Book One?
The Tata Sierra EV is not a compromised car. It's genuinely impressive — the range, technology, design, and AWD performance all represent serious value at this price. If you were on the fence about EVs, this is the car that tips you over.
The caveat: don't book the base Pure variant. At ₹18.79 lakh it's stripped of enough features that the value weakens. Go at least to Adventure trim, and if range matters, pay the extra ₹1.2 lakh for the 75 kWh pack.
